In English we are exploring books by Benji Davies. We will be focusing on writing simple sentences and will start to use the conjunction 'and' as well as adjectives to make our sentences longer.
In Maths we will be focusing on geometry (shape) and place value within 20.
In Phonics we will continue learning level 4 sounds e.g. 'ir' as in bird and 'or' as in saw.
In Science we will be learning about materials and their properties.
In Art we will be learning about Piet Mondrian. We will explore his artwork and recreate our own using his as our inspiration.
In PSHE we will learning about 'Citizenship'.
In PE our focus will be 'dance' linked to the weather.
In French we will learn how to say the names of the four seasons and give a brief description about them.
In Computing we will be learning how to login to a computer and how to use the mouse.
In Computing this half term we are learning how to login to a computer and how to use the mouse. We are showing great levels of resilience in the computer room because using a computer for the very first time isn't easy!
In RE the big question we are exploring is: What do some people believe God looks like?
We started off this unit of work by thinking about a pinecone and coming up with as many words as possible to describe it. This reinforced the idea that God is so big it is impossible to use one word or picture to describe him. We then drew symbols of things we believe represent our own thoughts about God.
In Science this half term our topic is 'Materials'. We are learning all about materials and their properties.
In class today we sorted materials by their properties and realised that some materials have more than one property!
Protect Our Planet Day 27.11.25
Today we talked about how important it is to look after our planet. We discussed ways that we can do this e.g. picking up litter, asking to walk to the shop instead of driving.
We looked at a book called ' Weather: My First Experiments' and talked about the difference between weather and climate. We then worked in groups of 2 to read statements and decide whether it was describing the weather or climate.
