Patsy Simmons has 35 years of experience as both a performer and a director plus instructor in the pageantry arts. Her dedication to the activity is best exemplified by the 20 years she spent teaching at LaSalle High School. During her time at LaSalle she not only directed the high school team which received many accolades both in marching band and winter seasons, but she also created and directed a junior high ensemble to serve as a feeder program into the high school guard. Patsy’s desire to provide a program for local high school graduates led her to creating and self-funding an Independent A Class color guard, Consortio, who in 2010 finished an impressive 4th place at WGI World Championships. Patsy continued her involvement with independent color guards as a member of the leadership team for Zydeco; she initially assumed the role as the co-director of IO Bronze medalists, Zydeco Open, in 2011. Patsy worked with Zydeco as an Assistant Director for Zydeco World from 2012-2014, and she co-directed Zydeco A in 2013. When Zydeco assumed an inactive status, Patsy joined the staff of the Independent A team, Allegoria, and served in various roles during her tenure with the team.
Patsy’s love for the activity is also evident in the 12 years she served on the Tristate Circuit Board of Directors. She has a long history with the circuit and has mentored instructional staff for numerous programs. As a board member, she served as a Scholastic Rep, Secretary and lastly the President of the circuit for two terms. Patsy helped implement successful ideas and programs that continue to enrich the circuit as a whole and promote growth.
