Enrolling in a vocational education and training (VET) course at school (VETDSS) can offer our young people a powerful head start toward a meaningful career or further study. These hands-on learning experiences combine accredited qualifications with practical skills, enabling students to leave school with industry recognised credentials often at Certificate II or III level.
VET courses allow students to explore potential career paths, refine their strengths, and build a network through real-world work placements and industry engagement. They are designed to expand students interest and or meet local workforce demands, providing clear pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships, further vocational study, direct employment or further tertiary studies.
Students can gain credits toward their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Vocational Major (VM) or Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC), reducing their VCE load while earning points toward tertiary entrance. All these advantages make VET an ideal way for young people to gain confidence, direction, and practical readiness for life after school.

As some 2026 guides are not yet available, please refer to the 2025 versions to assist with your course selection. These guides will be updated as new information is received from the providers. If a course listed in the 2025 guide is not offered in 2026, Bronte our VET Coordinator will contact you directly.
Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) is your personal education number required for all nationally recognised study, including university and vocational education and training (VET). Made up of 10 letters and numbers, it is free and stays with you for life.
This is not a school issued number. It is the student/parent/carer responsibility to obtain a USI. It is a government issued student number for any person in Australia enrolling in Vocational Education and Training. If you do not have a number or have forgotten your number, please visit the USI website before completing an 'Expression of Interest'.
