"Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success." - Pablo Picasso
There are six Career Clusters of people who share common tasks, skills, and values in every workplace. And if you know which Cluster(s) you’re in, it can be easier to make decisions about your career and the subjects to get you there.
You can also read a full report about Career Clusters here.
MAKERS
Create and maintain the places where we live and work. They grow crops, build homes, repair vehicles, and keep the power on.
INNOVATORS
Design, engineer, and manufacture things we use in all areas of our lives, from the clothes we wear, to the food we eat, the homes we live in and the roads we drive on.
LINKERS
Help us find, choose, secure, and use things. They can help us with products and physical items, or with the services and support we need.
INFORMERS
Advise, teach, and guide us so we can manage our legal, social, and financial responsibilities, and participate in society.
COORDINATORS
Are the people who plan, prepare, and administer our events, systems and economy. They play a vital role in making sure everything runs smoothly.
GUARDIANS
Are people that protect our mental
and physical wellbeing. They help us care for our health, and guard against
illness and injury.
Cluster Example
Each organisation, workplace, and industry needs people from each Cluster to operate successfully. For example, when we think about jobs in agriculture the most obvious job would be a farmer. But farmers are not the only people working in agriculture - we also need farm managers, auctioneers, safety auditors, accountants, agronomists, shearers, truck drivers, and software engineers to work alongside the farmers, and these people come from every Cluster. There could also be many more like Marketers, Educators etc that specialise in this area.
