It's just as important today as it was in the past for primary students to master the 3 Rs. Traditional drilling, repetition and memory skills development are still essential components to learning. However, there is now an additional layer that needs to be added to their learning toolkit - basic technology skills. When we mix the traditional with the technology, we call this blended learning. At PBPS we think it's very important students continue to improve basic skills such as literacy, spelling, speaking and listening skills. But they can do all these things whilst simultaneously developing these new 'tech' skills which will be so important to them as they progress through their formative years, and of course when they finish their formal education and enter the job market.

We think the NET lessons are a perfect space to open up the tech learning, as it is clear that many students may need to communicate IN English, THROUGH technology, in the future. 

Below is a simple graphic showing how we blend the traditional and the modern styles of learning and how we build on the skills year by year from P1 to P4, so by the time students are in P4 they are learning with a huge variety of tools, platforms and formats. Because we want a blended approach to learning, we don't use technology with students all the time! But when we do use technology in the classroom we want  it to be effective. Therefore, at the start of each academic year, every year level here at PBPS undergoes some systematic technology training  and testing with iPads  to make sure they are easily able to complete  the tasks which use technology throughout the year.  This is  what we call our iPaddling Licences.
