REFLECTION ON EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH
A Brief Explanation of the Technology:
A digital video recording that I captured was of different actions taking place on a computer display with the help of Screencast-o-Matic - a free recording program that was recommended by the instructor. I also recorded voice-over narration in pieces separately directly on iMovie maker on my pre-captured screen recordings to explain and demonstrate how to use a specific operating system, a software including a smartphone apps and website features of BrainCert.com. I also downloaded "Royalty Free Music" and joined everything together that demonstrates and teaches the use of this software features. I found it very engaging and interesting using different technologies and softwares separately and then joining them to produce an end result screencast video.
The Goal of this Artifact, Subject & Grade:
The goal of my artifact, a digital video is to explain about a virtual classroom BraibCert.com that is a simple, yet very useful tool that can be used by educators to teach or it can be used by students wherever they are, to create and sell online courses, tests, and live classes. All the tools & expertise one need to learn, teach, and collaborate online - are all in one place. BrainCert contains "Virtual Classroom", "Online Testing Platform", "Content Management" and "Online Courses Platform" which is useful for Grade 3 to 12 and above including military personnel. I feel the students will fall into it and it'll help improving learning outcomes especially with an accessibility of re-visiting it as many times by not only the teachers rather by the student as well anywhere on the globe, round the clock.
My goal of utilizing this artifact of BrainCert is within the educational aspects and training development of Canadian Forces (particularly Cadets’) set-up to enhance proficient learning and management.
Reflection on ease/difficulty of learning and use of Technology:
The affluence of learning to use of this particular technology i.e., Screencast-o-Matic, use of voice recording with different microphones and even use of an aeroplane pilot's microphone was at time difficult, frustrating and very time consuming because it constantly kept on recording a constant mush and a very annoying sound in the background. Finally, the audio recording was done directly with the help of an in-built mic on Macbook Pro that worked very well.
Possible Uses in Education:
This technology (screencast/digital video making) will be utilized by me with in different branches and trades for Cadets and adults by creating and delivering distributed learning, distant learning and e-learning contents
