Data Handling & Visualization

EDUC 210 Lab 7 - NICK AZAM.xlsx

Reflection

A Brief Explanation of the Technology:

In this lab, we used an interactive computer application for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form called Google sheets or Spreadsheets.  We entered the data and it took the form of student marks using Google sheets that works exactly as Microsoft excel spreadsheets to organize the marks. After the data (marks & percentage) was entered and formulas were created, it automatically performed calculations of grades assigned to students and the data itself staying in numerical form automatically created graphs and chart (I selected "Line Chart") to be displayed and the sheet put the marks into graphical form and revealed the hidden information.

The Goal of this Artifact, Subject & Grade:

The goal of today's learning was to create a Google sheets as a teacher. I can accumulate students' exams' results and store over a period of time, the grades and bonuses to total up for the end of the year with ease. I can then see diagrams, charts, graphs showing the relation between variable results for each student measured separately based upon the data to better choose or alter a suitable teaching methods to get better results.

My goal of utilizing Google sheets is within the educational aspects and training development of Canadian Forces (particularly Cadets’) set-up to enhance proficient learning and data management.

Reflection on ease/difficulty of learning and use of Technology:

The affluence of learning to use of Google sheets and excel spreadsheet was very easy because we were provided detailed instructions during the lab and the "Data Handling Info Sheet" was really a great help. The formulas entered into the cell, allowed the Google sheet to perform automatic calculations based on values in other cells and displayed the result. The formulas I created by using references to other cells, expressions, and functions including the equals sign (=), SUM, the cell address of the cell I wanted to refer in the formula.

Possible Uses in Education:

I'll use Google sheets while instructing Royal Canadian Army and Air Cadets performance and training development being a great data, collection and calculation tool and I will also use Google sheets for creating different graphical charts analysis and to store/display grades and results.
