Artists will sketch a small drawing each day, using a different prompt each time. In addition to a drawing task, the slide provided includes a visual example, academic art vocabulary, introduction to an artist, and a quote. This practice is important to envision artwork and develop ideas.
The time allotted for student's Daily Draws grows with each grade, so 7th graders get 7 minutes to draw. Some days this is a challenge and a lesson in persistence.
At this time, artists have been introduced to most studios, so demonstrations will be minimal. We will use our instructional to explore traditional techniques as well as artists past & present, and students can use studio time to explore these ideas even further. The goal of their studio time will be to persevere through challenges, learn from mistakes, and attempt to fix them.
These quick reflections are based on the Studio Habits as seen in our grading rubric. We cover aesthetics, art criticism, art history, and art production. The ability to reflect on our work, accept feedback, engage in constructive criticism, and use academic vocabulary is emphasized.
Artists will continue to document and organize their daily work. 7th grade will document their Daily Draws, Daily Work, and a Reflection Question. Along with STEAM, we will practice digital literacy skills using the Google Suite. This allows the artist to document and discuss the process of making art. Parents will be able to view their child's work and teacher feedback if they are listed as a Guardian in Google Classroom.
In 7th Grade, Google Classroom is used to submit Daily Work. We also use GC to manage deadlines and communicate feedback on student work. You can request to be a guardian on your child's Google Classroom by sending me an email at acraw@poynette.k12.wi.us
