AP & SAT Test Updates

The College Board will communicate to students through the email used to create their College Board account at myap.collegeboard.org. Please check this email frequently. This is where students will receive their e-ticket to take their AP Exam.

2020-2021 School Year update as of 09/17/20

In person exams offered by College Board and administered by the school have been cancelled by the Principal and District until further notice.

  • Ninth-graders will be taking the PSAT in the spring, and more information will be provided as we get closer.

  • Sophomores unfortunately will not be taking the test this year, but they can speak to their school counselor about ways they can keep preparing.

  • Juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on October 29th. This will be in-person with all health and safety protocols followed.

  • Seniors will be able to take the SAT on October 14th as part of a school SAT Day that will be paid for by the District (since they missed SAT School Day last year). This is a change from the earlier announced date of 10/27. This will be in-person as well and students should expect to wear masks and follow social distance protocols during the test.

FAQ 2020-2021 School Year

What are the major changes?

  • This year, due to impacts of the Coronavirus, traditional face-to face exam administration will not take place. Students will take a 45-minute online free-response exam at home.

  • The exam will only cover topics and skills most AP teachers and students have already covered in class by early March.

  • CollegeBoard reports that “Colleges support this solution and are committed to ensuring that AP students receive the credit they have worked on this year.”

  • For more information from CollegeBoard, click here.

NEW! Updated Criteria for Fee Reductions

  • If you previously paid to take one or more AP exams, but because of circumstances related to COVID-19 are considering not taking the test because you or your family could use the money, please be in touch. We have new options for granting fee waivers based on the economic challenges COVID-19 is presenting families.

What options do students have?

  • Students will be able to take this exam on any device they have access to (computer, tablet, smartphone).

  • Any student who is already registered for the exam can cancel at no charge at any time. We do encourage all students who have worked hard to prepare to attempt the test. Again, if money is a significant consideration, contact Ms. Dame. We will work to get you a fee waiver.

Who should students talk to if they are confused about whether or not to take the test?

  • Reach out to your AP teacher. Find their email in our staff directory.

  • Talk to your DC Coach.
