Audiobooks & Ebooks
We've compiled a list of resources below to help you gain access to books you can read at home.
Free audiobooks in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. No login required.
The Internet Archive is a “non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more.”
Go here to look for books and movies! ALL FREE.
All families can access PPL Tumblebooks without logging in.
Tumblebooks are books that contain audio and text, and some contain animation.
These books can be read by anyone who enjoys children’s books. Some graphic novels are also included here.
To access, go to the PPL Website. On the right, open the red “Kids and Families” link. Open “Fun and Games.” Then, open this link:
Choose a book to read online and hit “Play.”
All DHS students can use ID#s to access cloudLibrary audio and eBooks.
Go to the PPL Website.
From the toolbar at the top, choose eLibrary, which takes you to ALL eBook sources.
Choose cloudLibrary to find audio and ebooks.
From the drop down menu, choose United States, Maine, and Portland Public Library.
Browse the books. The ones with blue headphones in the bottom right corner are audiobooks. All others are ebooks.
Click on the book you want and login.
When you are prompted with “Enter Your Library Card ID,” you will:
Enter the prefix 2122098 + 0 + your student ID#
Your login number would look like this: 21220980123456
