Freshmen

You will be in person at school 2 times a week

You are split into 2 Pods.

Students in EL1, EL2, EL3 You will be invited for small group meetings with your teachers. You will be able to come to school for a quiet space to do school work and use the internet.

FLS students will also be coming in to School access teacher support.

Sophomores-Seniors

You will be remote in the morning. In the afternoon during Learning Center time you will have:

Advisory & RAM Block (WINN)

You will come in once a week for advisory. Teachers can and will schedule you for small work sessions or you can schedule a time to come in and get support.

You will also have remote advisory on Wednesdays

What is Remote Learning?

On days you are not in the actual school, it's considered "remote learning." You will have assignments and meetings with your class and small groups. Look at your school schedule to see when your classes are!

You must be available and logged in during school hours!

If you are a remote student, you can still pick up lunch!

Lunch will be available in a bag in the Ludlow Parking Lot tent between 1:00pm and 2:00pm for all students. These lunch bags will also include a breakfast for the next day.

Learning Center?

A time for any student to come in and work with their teachers. This may be for test prep, labs, etc.

Using WINNMe, students and teachers can request to be in person from 1:15-3:30.

Teachers will also be available remotely for “office hours” for students who prefer to access support remotely.

Advisory?

Every student will have two Advisory meetings every week, one in-person and one remote.

Advisory In-Person meeting Days:

  • 9th Cohort A Thursday

  • 9th Cohort B Tuesday

  • 10th Tuesday

  • 11th Monday

  • 12th Friday

Advisory is the new and improved version of DC. Advisory is now a credit. It is important so you are connected, informed, ready for the year, and specific grade level transitions (jobs, colleges, classes, etc).

Wednesday?

Just like past years, Wednesday has a different schedule.

All students and learning is remote. Teachers are available for small group or individual support remotely from 9:30-12:30 am.

Virtual advisory for grades 10-12 is in the morning at 9:30AM.

Remote Only Registration

If you do not wish your student to come to school at all (even for once a week in-person advisory), please let us know by the start of school on September 14th, 2020.

The deadline for Freshmen Remote Academy was Monday, August 24th. We are confirming with parents their decision via phone.

Once you make this decision, we ask that you stick to that choice until the new semester begins on January 29th

Questions?

We are working hard to make sure everyone has answers to all their questions. Watch the webinar from Thursday, August 20th, and check out the frequently asked questions.

We are also in the process of ensuring all classrooms and common spaces comply with all District, State, and CDC guidelines. The district is helping us develop outdoor classrooms that can facilitate learning and social distancing. If you would like to help donate to support these efforts, you can do so through the nonprofit organization, Foundation for Portland Public Schools.
