This structure can be used when delivering new information to students. This can be delivered verbally with the teacher delivering new material or through a video or audio recording.
The key to the structure is to stop whenever there is a real key piece of information being shared. It is vital that students have the opportunity to record the important information and if necessary discuss and digest pieces of information before receiving the next bit of information.
The teacher must point out that the information they have just heard or seen is vital and needs recording by stopping the video or delivery and giving the instruction to “Record It”
AVOID PLAYING FULL VIDEOS OR DELIVERING LONG PASSAGES OF INFORMATION WITHOUT STOPPING REGULARLY TO RECORD THE KEY PIECES OF INFORMATION. A COMMON MISTAKE IS TO PLAY FULL VIDEOS THEN ASKING STUDENTS TO RECORD KEY FACTS THEY CAN REMEMBER.
