Unlike others, thanksgiving time is one of at least the BEST holidays next to Hanukkah/ Christmas and Kwanzaa. I love Thanksgiving because it is just such a chill holiday and the one thing I always am exiled to have is my grandma’s mashedpoatatos they are always good people think it is gross but actually it is delicious the secret ingredient is ……., marshmallows mini marshmallows it is so good well that is my favorite food for thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays ever. It falls on the 4th Thursday in November. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks (hense THANKSgiving). It was first celebrated in the 1600s when the pilgrims met the Native Americans and they decided to have a feast. They had turkey, lobster, wild bird, and some different kinds of berries for dinner. They were all gathered in Plymouth Harbor known today, as Cape Cod. It is a fishing port in southern Massachusetts.
Lots of people have fun with their families on Thanksgiving. Some people go to family members houses and others host people at their houses. Some watch football or play a game outside. last year, 138 million people watched the Thanksgiving Day football games.
The best part of Thanksgiving is the food. You eat turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and the best part of all, the deserts. There is pumpkin pie, apple pie, ice cream, and others.

Many people consider Thanksgiving a holiday to celebrate what we are thankful for. Still, it is much more than that—the Holiday originated in 1621 when Christopher Columbus and his fellow pilgrims from Plymouth came along on the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. They turned the Wampanoag people (natives of the land) into slaves. Many of the Wampanoag people died of lack of resources, as the cold was a big problem. Not only that, but the Pilgrims spread many diseases, killing many of the Wampanoags. But this part is disguised by the feast that the Wampanoags and Pilgrims shared, which was considered the first Thanksgiving.
There are many traditions that people celebrate on Thanksgiving. A very popular one is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. This tradition is held in NYC, where millions of people stand and gaze at the beautiful floats and balloons. People tune in on TV as well and enjoy this tradition as a kick-off to their Thanksgiving morning.
Now, we can’t talk about Thanksgiving and forget about the food. When you think of Thanksgiving food, the first thing that pops into your head, as well as everyone else's head is the famous Turkey. As you can guess, Turkey is the most popular food bought on Thanksgiving, as a whopping 46 Million Turkeys are eaten on this holiday. Many other popular foods eaten on this special day include stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and gravy. So, when you celebrate this wonderful holiday, make sure to think of these important factors of the Holiday, as they are what makes Thanksgiving… Thanksgiving!
