Pi-ling up the Fun: PNUANS Embarks Pi Festival 2023

PNU-Mindanao celebrates Pi-Fest 2023 with a theme, "Infinite Possibilities of Pi: Expanding Scientific Literacy and Numeracy in the Post-Pandemic Era," showing the intellect and talents of PNUANS last March 22, 2023, at PNU Covered Court 1.

The Pythagoras Club and Einstein Society surprised the PNU-Mindanao students with a variety of exciting activities, such as Suduko, Rubiks Cube competition, Quiz Bowl, Data Cartooning, Sci-Math Jingle, Sci-Math Look-a-like, and the Amazing Race, which provided entertainment and fostered camaraderie among the students as they participated in every Pi-Fest activity.

The celebration began at 8:00 a.m. with the opening program, where students gathered in Covered Court 1 heard the welcome address of the President of Pythagoras Club, Ms. Reina Marie Sazon, a statement of purpose by the OIC, President of the same club, Ms. Samantha Molijon, and witnessed the Pythagoras Club intermission number. It was followed by the introduction of the board of judges by Mr. Christian Entrada, Vice President of the Einstein Society, indicating that all activities are about to commence.

Mr. Dave Talamor, a freshman student from OBTEC-M-I-7, earned the gold medal in the Data Cartooning competition, which began first thing in the morning. The Rubik's cube competition followed, with Ms. Maria Glende Arig, a BEE III student, winning the girls category and Mr. Earl Jon Lovete, an OBTEC-M-I-2 student, winning the boys category. Meanwhile, the Suduko tournament took place and Ms. Stephanie Caranyagan, an OBTEC-M-I-1 student, won. When the other activities began, the Sci-Math Quiz Bowl and Amazing Race began, with the KADIPAN winning the Sci-Math Quiz Bowl and the KAP taking first place in the Amazing Race.

During the afternoon, the Sci-Math Jingle Competition, as well as the Sci-Math Look-a-like, were held at Covered Court 1, where the PHESA shouted triumph in the Sci-Math Jingle while Mr. Julius Amado, a BECED III student, won the Sci-Math Look-a-like. The event was then finished with the awarding.

"I am satisfied with the event's outcome, and I believe that we achieved our mission for this event -  that is, to promote scientific literacy and numeracy, encourage interest and engagement, and foster student involvement in science and mathematics through fun, interactive, and educational activities; and help students better appreciate math and science," Samantha Molijon, OIC-President of Pythagoras Club stated.

It was indeed an enjoyable, fun, and memorable activity. The PNUANS has been given a chance to showcase their intellectual ability and talents that they are not just only have the looks but also they have something they show off in terms of academic and skills.

"Always focus your angles, PNUans! Let us always rev up to the rhythm of the infinite possibilities of pi. We are in action! Sci Math in Motion," she added.

Hearing the positive feedback and the dedication of the Pythagoras Club and Einstein Society, they expected to see the PNUANS support and energy again for the next Pi Fest event, hopefully next school year.
