Middle School Humanities

This class is a combination of U.S. History and Language Arts

U.S. History

This class covers events, issues, and people starting in the 18th century through modern day. It is taught from multiple perspectives and resources so students walk away with a well rounded idea of how and what our country was founded on.

Writing

Most of the essays will be written in conjunction with what students are studying in U.S. History. Writing is taught using the Step Up to Writing curriculum. This curriculum breaks down the process of writing into smaller segments so students get competent at their writing skills.

Vocabulary/Spelling

Vocabulary will be words and phrases found throughout our readings. Students should expect weekly activities and quizzes. Students will be expected up use specific vocabulary in their writing.

Supplies Needed

2 inch binder with dividers
Lined paper
Pencils

Class Expectations

Must bring binder and supplies daily.
Homework is due daily at the beginning of the class.
Put NAME and DATE on all materials.
Must "show work" to get assignment credit.

40% Writing
30% Class Participation
20% Vocabulary/Spelling
10% Binder Organization
