Personal Appearance Policy

Formerly known as the "Dress Code" this topic has been one of much debate. The purpose of this policy is to help students develop routines and habits that will help them in their professional lives. This goes beyond the dress code and also includes personal hygiene. The purpose of this policy is the ensure students have the ability to arrive at work projecting a personal appearance that is both healthy and professional. Bottom line: both the student and their attire should be clean, neat, in good repair, and present a professional image.

Hygiene: Student appearance should be indicative of a morning routine that includes: washing, oral hygiene, and grooming.

Shirts: Collared shirts with long or short sleeves (this includes polo shirts), logos are allowed so long as they are located on the chest and are conservative in size (no larger than a fist). T-Shirts may be worn as long as they are solid in color or with PCS associated graphics. This means that if a student wishes to wear a patterned shirt it will need to have a collar.

Pants & Shorts: Will be solid in color and will be made of either denim, khaki, or canvas.

Leggings: While leggings are generally considered athletic wear and may be worn during PE they may also be worn in conjunction with shorts, skirts, dresses and pants.

Student-athletes may wear their sports jerseys on the day of the competition.

Students who are working may wear work uniforms when necessary.

Students may change into athletic wear during lunch. Athletic ware includes leggings, yoga pants, athletic/running shorts (to include board shorts), t-shirts, etc.

  • Holes, rips, or tears

  • Inappropriately sized clothing (clothing that is either excessively large/baggy or small/tight/revealing)
