When is SkillsUSA? Our meeting date, time, and location can be located on the Home Page. It will be kept as current as possible

What do you do in SkillsUSA? Meeting activities will vary depending on the time of year. Sometimes meetings will just be to pass word and information. Other times there will be a planned activity. We plan out a Program of Work each year that will guide our weekly meetings. There will also be opportunities to get advice on how to prepare for your desired SkillsUSA competition.

Where do I find out dates and information for events? We have some basic information regarding SkillsUSA events located on our Conferences page. Additional information can be found on the Nebraska SkillsUSA website.

What competitions are there in SkillsUSA? SkillsUSA offers over 100 competitions spanning a variety of career pathways. A list of competitions can be located on our Competitions page, or at the Nebraska SkillsUSA website. Any specific questions can be directed to an Advisor or a member of the Officer team.

Where can I get SkillsUSA merchandise? Official SkillsUSA merch can be purchased on the SkillsUSA store. A PLHS SkillsUSA merch store is under construction!

How do I choose a competition to compete in? Ask an Advisor! We will work with you to find something that you are interested in and help to prepare you for that competition!

Do I need to be good at my competition? Yes, but we care far more about you getting the experience and learning from the competition coordinators. Winning is great, but walking away with a better understanding of your desired career is way more important!

Where do I find what I will do in my competition? SkillsUSA releases Contest Updates every year prior to the SLSC. Information about what the competition will entail can be found there. You can also ask one of the Advisors for more information!

Is there a cost for membership? Yes. It costs $20 to be a SkillsUSA member each year. 

Is there a cost for the conferences? Yes. These costs will vary every year depending on what the conferences entail. Our Conferences page will keep up to date information on costs.

Can I list SkillsUSA on my NHS application? Absolutely! In fact we encourage it!

Can I list SkillsUSA on a college application or resume? Yes! SkillsUSA is a great thing to add to your application or resume!

Can I be a club officer? Anyone can be an Officer. More information can be found on our Officers page. Make sure to have a conversation with an Advisor before applying!

Can I be a state or national officer? Yes. However, we require that you serve as a chapter officer before applying to be a state of national officer. State and National officer applications are due a few months before SLSC.

Can you be "kicked out" of SkillsUSA? Yes. Grounds for removal from SkillsUSA include but are not limited to: Violation of the PLHS student handbook, Failure to attend 3 consecutive meetings without communicating with an Advisor or Officer, Exhibiting unprofessional behavior both inside and outside of SkillsUSA activities.
