Honors Introduction to Engineering Design is a year-long honors course. This Project Lead The Way (PLTW) course develops students’ problem-solving skills, with emphasis on visualization and communication skills, using a computer and a 3-D solid modeling software. The student will learn to combine models into assemblies and animate the new assembled model in order to assess operation in a practical representation. Students will also learn how to import or convert the model for visual presentation or fabrication/prototyping possibilities. Students can receive 3 semester hours of transcribed college credit. A weighted grade is given for this course.

Classroom Expectations
In addition to observing classroom rules established by the district and school…
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Maintain a proper workstation.
Use authorized software only and at the approved times. Do not visit unauthorized websites, download content/software, create/edit/delete documents and/or change software/system settings without approval.
Use tools and materials as demonstrated, observing safety guidelines and workstation requirements.
Follow directions the first time they are given, and complete assignments in the allocated time.
Do not eat or drink in the classroom/shop. These items are not allowed in the classroom/shop and should be thrown away (or recycled) at the door.
Grading Procedures
Grading is based on completion of projects (25%), classwork (25%), quizzes (25%), and tests (25%). Following is the weighted grading scale:
