Design and Technology 1 is a one semester elective course. This course provides opportunities for students to explore technologies in communications, design engineering, power, energy and transportation. Students will explore the fundamentals of technical drawing, Computer Aided Design Software, and their application in the design process. Students will develop the necessary skills in design and problem solving to enable them to undertake a variety of problem solving and design tasks.

Classroom Expectations
Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Do not mess with one another or another student's belongings or work. Do not run or engage in horseplay in our classrooms and workspaces.
Use authorized software only and at the approved times. Do not visit unauthorized websites, download content/software, and/or change software/system settings without approval.
Use equipment, furniture, materials, and tools as intended or demonstrated, observing the safety guidelines and project workstation requirements.
Follow directions the first time they are given, and complete/submit assignments within the allocated time.
Uphold the district's and building's cell phone policy (Off and Away). Students may use their phone only to take a picture of their work in class to submit in one of our assignments. Breaking the policy will result in escalating consequences shared by the administration with students.
Do not eat or drink at your student PC/workstation in the digital lab or in the workshop. Water bottles must be stored on a workbench nearby and away from electronics and your work. Food must be eaten at the door.
Allergy Alert: NO peanuts or tree nuts can be taken in or consumed in the classroom. Please wash your hands after lunch or snacks in the hallway due to known allergies and shared equipment use.
Grading Procedures
Grading is based on completion of projects (25%), classwork (25%), quizzes (25%), and tests (25%). Following is the grading scale:
A 90% B 80% C 70% D 60% F below 60%

Recommend Texas Instruments TI-30XS MultiView Scientific Calculator (app. $20); other models used in other classes may be sufficient; does not have to include graphing capabilities
