Landscaping & Greenhouse Management
This hands-on, lab-based course is directed toward the students interested in landscaping, plant management, and industrial landscaping principles. This class has an emphasis on hands on lab experience; students are encouraged to take this course if they like to being outside during the spring months and doing labs in the greenhouse. Students will also be exposed to working in the greenhouse, hydroponics, bucket gardening, and orchard management. There is the possibility of doing a community landscape project as well.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Horticulture Science or teacher approval

Landscape Design and Greenhouse Mgt course will cover all aspects of the landscape and greenhouse industry. Instruction includes the history of the both industries and how it has evolved to its current status. Discussion of plant anatomy, growth, nutrition, and diseases is a priority

By the end of this course, I would like the students to be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts and ideas in the field of landscape design and greenhouse management.
Demonstrate an understanding of how industry professionals and designers utilize the principles and methods of Art + Science to structure and shape outdoor space.
Students will apply knowledge of plant classification, anatomy and physiology to the production and management of plants.
Students will prepare and implement a plant management plan that addresses the influence of environmental factors, nutrients and soil on plant growth.
Students will propagate, culture and harvest plants.
Students will employ elements of design to enhance an environment.
Students will recognize different systems in which plants grow.
Students will access accomplishment of goals and objectives by an AFNR business.
Students will use industry-accepted marketing principles to accomplish AFNR business objectives.
