Career and Financial Literacy
In this required junior class, emphasis is given to career exploration and personal financial literacy. The course also stresses the steps to follow in finding and keeping a job, 21st century job skills that employers are looking for, the 16 career clusters, and post-secondary options for students. Students will participate in job shadow experiences in local communities, complete job and college applications, take part in mock interviews, and listen to presentations from community guest speakers. Students will also use their Career Cruising accounts during this course. The ACT KeyTrain curriculum will be an integral part of this course.
· Prerequisites: Junior status
· ½ credit for one semester (to be altered very other day with PE 11)
Course Objectives
Expand learning in an area of career interest through a planned internship experience
Complete entry level employment documentation
Increase knowledge and awareness of employability skills.
Apply employability skills to a workplace setting
Learn about workplace readiness skills
Complete a mock interview
Finalize a digital portfolio of the course experiences
