To my brave auditioning actors,
Thank you so much for your amazing work in the auditions. I was so glad to get the chance to see each of you perform. It takes real guts to do what you have done, especially those of you auditioning for the first time. I am deeply humbled by the bravery and talent I have seen in the past few days. I hope to be able to work with all of you in at least some capacity in the future. We will still need hard working and smart techies backstage and an excited audience in the theatre for this show.
When casting there is so much for a director to consider. Some students have schedules or paperwork issues which keep them from being involved, others were just not the best fit for this specific production. The strict nature of UIL competition rules means that there is not be a way for me to cast everyone I wanted to cast. The first meeting for students interested in being techies will take place Monday, September 21st. Of course EVERYONE is invited and encouraged to come out to our next Drama Club meeting on Friday. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you again for your time, energy, and talent.
I am so excited to get to work on this play with you!
The nature of this show and the way that it is written means that actors are not "cast into parts" in the traditional sense or style of most other plays. The actual characters actors will play are described as "apparitions" who are "compelled to tell the story of Aunt Leaf". Some characters will be voiced by multiple actors and actors will be called on to work as an ensemble to create the world of this story. We will be giving each Voice track a name from the play.
Students will get a chance to read the play and see which specific lines are theirs on Wednesday at our first rehearsal. Congratulations again.
