Classroom Expectations

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, I would like to share a few classroom expectations to help ensure a successful year for all students.

Please encourage your child to come to school each day ready to be prompt, prepared, productive, positive, and polite. These five principles help create a learning environment where every student can thrive.

Students should arrive in their approved school uniform each day, including appropriate socks and shoes. To minimize distractions and maximize learning, toys and non-school items such as gadgets, Nee-Doh, slime, squishies, plush items, and similar items should remain at home.

Water bottles are welcome in the classroom; however, they should contain water only. Students may enjoy other beverages, such as soda, during lunch.

Chromebooks are valuable educational tools and should be used for school-related purposes only. Students should not use them to take pictures or videos, play games, email friends, or access non-educational content. Chromebooks should not be used during lunch unless directed by a teacher.

We will also continue to emphasize respectful communication and behavior. Students are expected to treat classmates, teachers, and staff with kindness and respect, remain seated when appropriate, stay focused on their work, and avoid involvement in others' conversations or conflicts.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Working together, we can create a positive, productive, and engaging learning environment for every student. I look forward to a wonderful year of growth, learning, and success in 6th Grade ELA!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sharon Hawkins
