Pinkerton Academy has arranged an array of options for students to earn up to 3 alternative credits throughout high school. These paths take multiple forms, and can consist of classes offered through the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS), the Pinkerton Academy Continuing Education (P.A.C.E) program, or some off site locations. All alternative credits must first be selected from a Pinkerton Academy approved list and coordinated with the student's School Counselor. For information on the different deliveries of these alternative credits, please see the sections below.
This online experience provides Pinkerton Academy students with an opportunity to catch up on credits if behind, take graduation requirements to free up space for other classes, or allow students with extenuating circumstances to continue their education with as minimal interruption as possible. Once enrolled, the VLACS office connects students with VLACS teachers to complete assignments, competencies and summative assignments. These teachers also track the frequency of submitted assignments and will shut down a course if the feel the student is no longer engaged in the class, so please stay as up to date and communicative with the VLACS teacher as much as possible.
It is important to note that students enrolled in VLACS do not receive supports from Pinkerton Academy in completing these classes. Work may be completed during studies, resource periods, and before/after school on campus, but the PA expectation is that student's VLACS course is an independent endeavor.

To sign up for a class, please fill out the VLACS Approval Form and return it to the appropriate School Counselor by email or in the School Counseling office.
*Please note, any class that a student takes through VLACS is listed on their Pinkerton Transcript as such and does not factor into the student's Grade Point Average.
