In this project, we designed a soap bar for a loved one for Valentines Day. We as well wrote a line that would go along with the design.
Day 1: Brainstorming ideas and taglines
My ideas on Notability.
I eventually decided to opt for the among us idea. I decided to make it for a good friend of mine.
The reference image I found online for my design
I came up with the catchy tagline, "I wanna get sus with you" to match with my soap.
Day 2: CADding our idea into TinkerCAD Codeblocks or Fusion 360.
Tracing my referenece image using the spline tool in Fusion 360
Day 3: Continue to CAD our design on Fusion 360 or TinkerCAD blocks, now getting into the more detailed parts of our designs.
Got a final draft using the extrude tool in Fusion 360
Day 4: Printing the soap bar design.
Using Bambu to 3D print my among us design.
The finished 3D print
Day 5: Creating a silicon mold around our 3D print.
Mold made using the 3D print and silicon mold material
Day 5, Pt. 2: Patching up small imperfections in the silicon mold.
I felt like the mold could be better so I patched it up a little.
Day 6: Creating the Soap by pouring liquid soap into our previously made silicon mold.
I poured a lemon-scented, red-dyed soap into my silicon among us mold
Day 7: The soap could be taken out of its silicon mold and was done.
My finished among us soap
Reflection:
S (Strength of your work) - The strengths of my work were efficiency in assigning certain work to each day, and accuracy of my product to the reference design.
O (Opportunities to improve your work) - I could've improved my project by adding some creative details like blush or hands to the among us crewmate.
U (Understanding - what you learned through this project) - I learnt that quality of the end result eventually depends on the original idea. I also learnt physical skills such as how to 3d print and how to make a silicon mold.
L (Limitations you encountered in this project) - One challenge I stumbled upon was that the silicon mold couldn't pick up fine details so I had to find other ways to express my creativity.
WISCR: The two factors of WISCR that I felt were demonstrated in my project are being a clear communicator and well-roundedness. I felt I was a clear communicator because when I was confused about something in Fusion 360, I'd go up and ask Ms. Tran for help. I felt like I was being well-rounded because I applied my prior computer skills learnt in 7th grade, such as 3d printing, to this project.
