Project Description:
For this solo project, we were tasked with making a solution to a problem in our home in fusion 360 and 3d printing it. this is our last project in DE8, and we had the rest of our classes to finish it.
My family has always had a problem keeping track with our TV remote, so my idea is to make something that would around the remote that can hold an Apple AirTag without it being too cumbersome, solving this common problem.
Problem: always losing the Solution: the recoverer remote, batteries falling out. helps me locate the remote with ease, also helping keep the batteries in because the old remote back went missing.
Brainstorming:
My first thought was to make something that would attach to the bottom that can hold the AirTag, but if I applied any sticking solutions to the remote to hold it on it wouldn't be able to come off. I finally decided to design a sort a plastic sleeve with a pocket for the AirTag, so it could come on and off the remote if wanted. I came up with a catchy name, the "Remote Recoverer".
Procedure:
first, I went into notability and sketched a model for what the design would look like.W I then went into fusion to make it.
I tested it and realized the remote wouldn't fit in the space, so I made it bigger. I also changed the AirTag entry point so now you can insert it from the bottom, with a tab I will add later to keep it in place.
After printing that, I made final preparations for finishing.
I made a few more copies to make sure my measurements were correct and it would fit on my remote, with varying sizes and dimensions.
Soul Reflection
S - My strength was the simplicity in the design and all my goals being met throughout the project.
O - I could have probably made a easier system for taking the recoverer off and the AirTag out if I had more time to design a more complex structure.
U - I learned more about different features and more tools in fusion.
L - I had trouble printing the design, so it was tedious to have to go through such a long process to print because of how many people were printing. If I was able to have more time, I could have made a more complex design.
Wiscr Reflection
Two aspects of WISCR that I applied were "clear communicator" and "Insightful and critical thinker". I was asking for feedback on designs from classmates and Mrs. Tran often, and voiced my difficulties so they were solved quickly. I had to think of something fast and find a problem, and had to use the skills I learned to come up with something to solve my everyday problem.
