This is a project where we make soap molds in Fusion 360. We used the same procedures as the Apple Tracing Project, and got to explore Fusion 360 and it's functions further. Afterwards, we extruded the model and print them using Bambu Printers. After they had been printed, we covered them in silicon plastique, waited for them to dry, then filled the empty mold with a soap of choice.
This is my original sketch in Procreate.
Brainstorming Procedure: At first, I was going to make an icon of Billie Eilish that says "I'm happier than ever with you." But then, I decided to make a Pie for Mrs. Ortman after remembering how she helped me study for a test that I was extremely nervous about. I did a quick sketch of a pie in Procreate, then I converted it to a png. and imported it to Fusion 360 to trace.
This is my original model in Fusion 360.
This is a preview of what my mold will look like in Bambu Printing.
This is my Pie Soap Mold in progress.
This is my soap mold in the Silicon Plastique. We combined part A and part B of the silicon plastique, weighed them out, then quickly applied it to our plastic molds.
This is my mold out of the silicon. We had to take turns using a blow-dryer to quickly dry the molds, then I had to use an exacto-knife to cut off the edges.
This is my piece of soap one I had popped it out of the mold.
This is my soap after it had been poured in the mold. I used a vanilla scent and swirled a drop of red food dye into the soap after it had been poured into my silicon plastique.
This is the back of my soap.
Soul Reflection:
S-Strength: I think that I worked very hard on the designing of it in Fusion 360. It is very recognizable as a pie and it has a very witty tag line.
O-Opportunity: For this project, I got more used to and comfortable with Fusion 360. I learned how to create things and use functions on my own, which made me more proud with my work overall.
U-Understanding: This project truly helped me understand the importance of working diligently and not procrastinating. Every class needed to be used wisely, and each class we learned something new corresponding with the project.
L-Limitation: Having enough time was truly a struggle. However, Mrs. Tran helped me improve my final product by deleting a lot of uneccessary layers and editing them.
WISCR:
I-Insightful critical thinker: I thought clearly and deeply and tried to solve the problem myself before asking Mrs. Tran. There were many difficulties when tracing and extruding this pie, but it turned out great in the end.
S-Self motivated: I was very optimistic of how this project would turn out. Instead of giving up when there was an obstacle, I tried to solve it in the most logical way possible.
C-Clear communicator: Whenever I was truly stumped, I would first ask a peer, then I would ask the teacher. I wanted to ensure that my project was the best final product it could be.
