Description: In a group of four to five, build the tallest structure that is sturdy and stays up for at least one minute. the structure is built solely on straws and two feet of masking tape. It must stand alone, and the only thing that it touches is the floor.
Brainstorm: We immediatly decided that we were going to use a rectangle shape for the base. We kind of just winged it from there.
Procedure: We made a large rectangle for the base. We then taped a long straw to each of the corners of that rectangle. we started inserting the end of each straw into another, making a tall structure.
SOUL Reflections:
.S - Strength: I think that our base was pretty sturdy, and the tower itself was a good height.
.O - Opportunity : If we had an opportunity to do this project again, I would change the base and be more considerate of how much tape we are using.
.U - Understand: I learned that a strong, flat base is one of the most important elements to a strong tower.Â
.L - Limitation: we were limited to 2ft of tape, making it difficult to expand the tower's height.
