Creative Convention Competition - This competition is great for students who are looking to develop their creativity skills. Students compete in a variety of activities based on a theme for the day. This hands-on competition involves both communication and problem-solving skills. 

8th Grade Competition Date @ NA - Friday, October 3

7th Grade Competition Date @ NA - Wednesday, October 15

National History, Science, or Geography Bee - Students take online qualifying exams consisting of fifty multiple-choice questions. Students have twenty minutes to take each exam. Depending on their score, a student may qualify for the regional bee and then the national bee. The regional bee will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the AIU. 

National Day of Writing - National Writing Day is Monday, October 20, 2025. Fill in the Google Form on Google Classroom if you would like to participate in "Why I Write" activities during periods 1-2. This is a great enrichment opportunity for students with an interest or strength in ELA or creative writing.  

In-House Chess Tournament - Students compete in an in-house chess tournament to determine who will attend the regional chess tournament in December at North Allegheny. This tournament will also determine placing in the regional tournament. The in-house tournament will take place on Tuesday, October 28. 

Mathworks Math Competition - The Mathworks Math Contest (MMC) is an opportunity for middle school students to explore mathematics and be challenged by high-level problems. The test date is Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The MMC is a 15 question test that takes two hours. Students cannot use a calculator. All questions are done on paper and pencil.  Mathworks uses the MMC to identify students that would be a good match for the Junior Summer Math Camp Residential program in Texas. Mathworks also attends the Primary Math World Contest (PMWC) with a team of 4 middle school students selected from the highest scoring MMC participants. These students then attended the JSMCR program to work as a team to prepare for the PMWC later in the summer. Top scoring students will be recognized. 

Steelers STEM Fair - Interested in a career in the STEM field? Attend the in-house Steelers STEM Fair on Thursday, October 30 in the GATE room from 8-9 AM. In collaboration with the Steelers, students will learn from current STEM professionals about careers in STEM. Fill out the Google Form on Google Classroom to attend and to see more details.
