Law Day - Join the ACBA Law Day Committee for the Law Day 2026 event hosted by the Allegheny County Bar Association in partnership with the Civil Division and ACBA Civil Litigation Section on May 6, 2026. Students are invited to join the Committee at the Civil Division courthouse to learn about the Pennsylvania court system, explore the impact of the Constitution on the law, observe live court proceedings, and conclude with a game of Jeopardy. This event is great for students in civics classes, anyone interested in becoming a lawyer, or those curious about how the law and the courts work. Pizza will be provided or bring your own lunch. AI for Impact Hackathon: Harness AI to tackle a real-world issue, announced at the competition, to develop an innovative AI-driven solution: A working prototype of an interactive tool with the potential to make long lasting, global change. The hackathon will take place on Wednesday, May 13 at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. CANCELED due to low student interest.

WPCTE English Festival - Students read 6 pre-selected books throughout the year. On Thursday, May 21, 2026, students compete against other local schools in reading and writing competitions related to the books at La Roche University. The books are: What's Eating Jackie Oh? by Patricia Park (featured author); Chasing Secrets by Gennifer Choldenko; Play Like a Girl by Misty Wilson and David Wilson; Pages & Co.: The Bookwanderers by Anna James; Iveliz Explains It All by Andrea Beatriz Arango; Spaced Out by Stuart Gibbs. The sign up form was posted to Google Classroom in the fall. All students who signed up need to have all six books read by May 21. Stop in the GATE room to pick up a book to read.
Moonshot Museum - The last GATE event of the year will take place at the Moonshot Museum on Wednesday, June 3. GATE students will partake in various science-related challenges at the Moonshot Museum. Sign up on Google Classroom if you are interested in attending.
