Ray Parish

Biography

Willie Ray Parish is Professor Emeritus at the University of New Mexico at El Paso. After a 33-year university teaching career, Parish is now a full time artist based in Tucson. He is the founder and former director of Border Art Residency program which he and his wife Rebecca Hendrick hosted the program on their property in La Union, NM for fifteen years.

The sculptures of Parish are in numerous public and private collections including the El Paso Museum of Art, the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University, Mississippi Museum of Art, Washington D.C.'s Newseum, Albuquerque Museum of Art, and the Earthship Biotecture Visitor Center in Taos, New Mexico. Large scale public sculptures, often wind driven, are on the campuses of the University of Mississippi, Oxford and the University of Texas at El Paso, and at the City of El Paso’s Sculpture Park.
