How to Test TESTNav - Chromebook

Sign in to TestNav

  • Power on the device, but DO NOT LOG IN!
  • In the lower left of the screen, select Apps > TestNav to launch TestNav.
  • A message appears, informing you that you can use <ctrl><alt>s to exit Chrome OS when you first launch TestNav. This works only while the message displays.
  • If you have not already done so, choose the appropriate icon for your test on the home page. If your test was selected before the test session, you see the Sign In page, rather than the home page.
    • If you need to select a different test, click the user drop-down menu at the upper-right of the page, and click Choose a different customer.
    • Click the appropriate icon for your test.
  • Start a test to ensure that you can do so without error.
    • If you see a Practice Tests link on the Sign in page, click Practice Tests and start a test.
    • If you do not see a Practice Tests link, use an authorization ticket from your student management system and start a test.
  • To shut down and exit kiosk mode after the app launches, hold down the Power button.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to login to access the TestNav software?

A: No, the TestNav software is located in the Kiosk app section located at the bottom left corner of the login screen. Click on "Apps" and then choose TestNav. The software should now open up in the Kiosk mode.

Q: I am prompted to connect to a WiFi before logging in, is that normal?

A: Due to our current security settings, the Chromebooks will prompt the user to choose their connection prior to allowing the user to log in. Choose "PISD" and then proceed to login

Q: I opened or powered on the Chromebook and receiving a white box with a spinning cursor instead of the login screen. How can I get to the login screen?

A: Yes, this is a known glitch the last few revisions of the ChromeOS. Simply click the "Back" button in the white box and this should then take you to the login screen.

Q: How do I exit the TestNav software?

A: On the first screen, you will see the message at the bottom to press CTRL+ALT+S which can be used on this screen only! If you proceed passed this screen, you must shutdown the Chromebook by holding in the power button (Lenovo models - right side near volume controls; ASUS - Top right of the keyboard) for 10 seconds.
