Fine Arts Course Offerings, 2026-27

We are offering some new classes that will count for Art credit next year. Below are the descriptions of the new classes.  Students should check their school email for the link to sign up for the new classes.

Introduction to Floral Design: 

Teacher: Mrs. Gotvald

Description: Introduction to Floral Design is a hands-on, creative course that blends principles of art with the science of plants. Students will explore the elements and principles of design—such as color, balance, proportion, texture, and harmony—while learning foundational floral techniques used in the floral industry. Through guided projects, students will create arrangements for a variety of purposes including everyday designs, seasonal displays, and special events.

This course also fulfills a Fine Arts credit by emphasizing artistic expression, creativity, and visual composition. Students will develop skills in design critique, artistic decision-making, and presentation, while gaining an appreciation for floral design as a form of visual art. In addition, students will learn proper care and handling of fresh and artificial materials, basic tool use, and an introduction to careers in the floral and horticulture industries.

Metal Art:

Teacher: Mr. Brisk

Description: Prerequisites are either Welding 1 or 8th grade metals 

Metal Art is an art-focused course that explores metal as a medium for creative expression. Students will use techniques such as forming, shaping, texturing, and joining to create original metal works and small sculptures, with a strong focus on the elements and principles of art in a three-dimensional format. The course emphasizes design and creativity while reinforcing safe shop practices. Students will also participate in critique and reflection as they develop their artistic skills and complete a portfolio of work.  

General Music 9th-12th

Teacher: TBD

Description: 

General Music is a survey course designed for high school students who want to deepen their understanding and appreciation of music in all its forms — without the commitment of a performing ensemble. Students explore music as listeners, creators, critics, and cultural participants. Whether your playlist is country, hip-hop, classical, or everything in between, this class will give you tools to understand music more deeply and express yourself through it.
