Pierz Schools carried on the tradition of holding a community celebration of our Veterans on Tuesday, November 11. Major Blake St. Sauver, 2003 Pierz Graduate, delivered a moving message, requesting students take the opportunity to recognize that the freedom we have, the reason we are living as well as we do is because of the sacrifices that others have made by choosing to serve.
Last week, letters went out to all families with the personalized codes for parents to log into their student's School Links (if the student is younger than 17). We hope that whether you log into your own account or have your child log in next to you, that this program provides opportunities for you to talk to your student about their skills, interests, upcoming opportunities, and future plans. On Wednesday, November 19th, students in each grade did some work around Career and College Readiness in School Links. Talk to your student using the guide below:
Students took a skills assessment.
Questions to ask/ discuss:
What were your top three skills?
What careers did the assessment suggest for you? Are you interested in any of these careers?
Students took the Would You Rather Assessment. They are presented with two activities and have to select the one they prefer.
Questions to ask/ discuss:
What types of careers match your interests?
What did your assessment results indicate about your personality (ex: you seem to be… artistic, enterprising, etc.)
In the section that says “you value”, do you agree with the assessment results?
Students learned about Responsible Decision-Making.
Questions to ask/ discuss:
What are some ways that you can reduce small decisions that you have to make every day?
What is a problem that matters to you? Why are you passionate about solving it?
Students completed the Focus Assessment. Students discover their motivations for life after high school. Results are one of the 6 following matches: Socializer, Academic, Experiencer, Professional, Pragmatist, Explorer
Questions to ask/ discuss:
Which of the 6 possible motivations was your match and do you feel like it's accurate?
Sudents spent their time exploring careers in which they are interested. They can explore through recommended career clusters, education requirements, and location of demand.
Questions to ask/ discuss:
What careers did you explore and how did you decide on those? What is the demand for those types of positions? Does the pay support the lifestyle you plan to live? What is the path to that kind of career?
The building will run a Pioneer Time Schedule on these dates:
