Bullying/Harassment

Parkdale High School JROTC in conjunction with Prince George's County Public School ( Board Policy 5143 - Bullying, Harassment or Intimidation) Bullying, Cyber Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation provides the following guidelines:

DEFINITIONS - Bullying, Cyber Bullying, Harassment

       1. Bullying/Harassment, Hazing, or Intimidation in any type of unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance with the intent to abuse, embarrass, control, and/or harm the victim. Bullying can be physical, verbal, or written (this includes what you may post on social media). Hazing is the practice of rituals and other activities involving harassment, abuse, or humiliation used as a way of initiating a person into a group with or without the consent of the participants. This practice endangers the mental, physical, and academic health or safety of a student.

       2. Cyberbullying is bullying that uses electronic communication devices and it cannot be ignored as an avenue for bullying and sexual harassment. Most cyberbullying goes unreported. No one deserves to be bullied or harassed in form therefore we all have a shared responsibility to ensure that this doesn't happen.

       3. Harassment covers a wide range of behaviors of an offensive nature. Types of harassment include workplace harassment, sexual harassment, bullying and intimidation. An atmosphere of fear or mistrust is created when one is being harassed.

None of the above is acceptable in any form in the JROTC program or within

Prince Geoge's Country Public School (PGCPS). JROTC cadets should feel confident in their

knowledge of bullying prevention and should apply that knowledge throughout

their school and community.

ALL CADETS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ROLE MODELS

FOR OTHER STUDENTS TO EMULATE.

REMEMBER: THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ANY FORM OF HAZING OR BULLYING.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING ~ SAY SOMETHING!
