Parent Information

Welcome Parents/Guardians to Parkdale High School JROTC. As Instructors, we are looking forward to a great school year. our mission states, to motivate young people to be better citizens. Cadets learn through instruction, but they gain valuable knowledge by planning and conducting their own activities and events and practical leadership experience by taking charge

JROTC does not result in any obligation to enlist in the military. The program benefits your son or daughter through personal growth and development that will make them a better, more informed, and more responsible citizen. All cadets gain leadership experience and as they develop and demonstrate their skills they have the opportunity to increase responsibility and leadership positions.

All cadets will be issued and required to wear the Amry JROTC uniform one day a week on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on what day their class falls on. You will be able to determine that day each week by checking the unit calendar. They either attend class on an A-day or B-day. Wearing the uniform is a JROTC requirement agreed upon by the U.S. Army and Prince George's County Public Schools. While uniforms are issued free of charge and must be worn on scheduled uniform days, there will be a $15 administrative fee charged to each cadet. In return, cadets will receive PT gear to be used on physical training day which is held on Fridays. Please see the instructions below to make payment online. If this presents a hardship please contact the Senior Army Science Instructor so arrangements can be made. If your child is unwilling to comply with military uniform and grooming standards, he/she should inform you and you along with your child should contact guidance to withdraw from AJROTC. Guidance will contact the AJROTC instructors. Failure to do so will result in a failing grade.

Your child will be bringing home an information packet the first week of school. In that packet will be forms that you must read, sign, and return to the JROTC office. The packet will consist of a Welcome Letter, Health Risk Screening Record form, Media-Photography Consent form, JROTC Personal Data form, JROTC Standard Release Form, and a Prince George County School Physical Form. These signed forms must be returned before your child can participate in any off-campus JROTC activities. The forms are also listed in this section so that you can download and print them should you need to.

Uniforms will be issued within the first three weeks of school and a custody card will be sent home to you for signature accepting responsibility for the uniform. We thank you for your support of the Parkdale High School JROTC program and look forward to working together to ensure your child's success.
