As a junior, continue to focus on strong study habits, obtaining good grades, participating in extra-curricular activities, and taking courses that are interesting to you and provide a challenge. Continue to explore career interests and options. Your grades continue to to be part of your permanent record.

- Schedule changes may take place during the first two weeks of school. If you have a problem with your schedule, make an appointment with your counselor during study hall or lunch or before or after school.
- Continue with career exploration using Naviance Student. initially introduced to students as freshmen. College exploration may begin as well on this website. Students choose a username and password when they logged in for the first time and can use this id to log into Family Connection from home. Students can change their passwords in the event that they have lost/forgotten theirs.

- College Night for Juniors is usually held at Oxon Hill High School in the month of October. Announcements will be made regarding specific date and time.

- Guidance Counselors begin individual meetings with juniors to:
- review graduation requirements, transcripts, and cumulative grade point average.
- review career plans
- if student is planning to attend college, review internet websites that assist students in college searching. The sites most often recommended are College Board and Naviance Student.
- if student is planning to attend college, review College Binder, including 2-year timeline for applying to college.
- Students will begin the course selection process for next year. The Course Description Guide can be located on the Guidance Department's Main page.
- Parents will be emailed/mailed a copy of the course selection form noting their student's course selections. Parents should review this form carefully with their child, note any changes or questions they may have, sign and return to the Guidance Office immediately to account for the student's requests.

- College bound students may wish to register for a June SAT Subject Test for classes you have taken this year.
- Students will be encouraged to raise their grades as much as possible, stay after school for extra help, seek tutoring, etc. to help prepare for finale exams and Regents exams.
