If you are college bound, you should follow the following timeline in your senior year to be adequately prepared to meet your application deadlines. Please note: it is strongly advised that students take their final SAT or ACT by November of the senior year.
SUMMER
Continue visiting colleges
Begin to review college applications and record thoughts for application essay
SEPTEMBER
Register for October SAT (late August/EARLY September)
Register for SAT Prep course (to prep for November test) - check Guidance Office for registration information
Continue visiting colleges
Narrow list of potential colleges
Research college application requirements
If you have not done so, submit The Counselor's Junior Survey for College Recommendations on Naviance Student
OCTOBER
Early Decision/Early Action Application (ED/EA) applicants: Submit all ED/EA School Report forms to Counselor by October 1st.
Counselors begin Senior Meetings
Attend local college fairs
If necessary, register for December or January SAT
NOVEMBER
Review final list of 6-8 colleges with Counselor
DECEMBER
Submit all applications with January 1st deadlines before December break
Continue working on applications that have a deadline of February 1st or later
JANUARY
Complete FAFSA and send as soon after January 1st as possible.
APRIL
Notification of college decisions
Follow up on applications where needed
Notify School Counselors of college decisions
Complete Local Scholarships application
JUNE
If you are planning to participate in Division I or Division II athletics in college, be sure to have your final transcript sent to the NCAA Clearinghouse and complete amatuerism questionnare on their website: www.eligibilitycenter.com
