SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH ENGINE
Scholarship search engines are online platforms or databases that help students find scholarships that match their personal, academic, and demographic profiles.
They function like search engines for financial aid — collecting scholarship opportunities from colleges, foundations, nonprofits, and private organizations — and then matching students to those that fit their qualifications.
YEARLY SCHOLARSHIP FOR SENIORS
The Meyerhoff Scholars Program is at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, technology, engineering and related fields. The UMBC Meyerhoff family is now more than 1300 strong, with over 1100 alumni across the nation and 281 students enrolled at UMBC. Over 300 graduates are currently pursuing graduate and professional degrees in STEM fields.

The Stokes Program is open to high school seniors, particularly minority students, who are planning to major in computer science or computer/ electrical engineering. You’ll attend college full-time, then work during summer breaks at NSA. You’ll acquire real-world experience and receive a salary year-round. Stokes participants must work at NSA for at least 1.5 times the length of study upon graduation. Students must have a minimum SAT score of 600 in reading/writing and 600 in math, or an ACT score of at least 25. A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.

This means SAT/ACT test scores will not be required to complete your application for admission, nor will SAT/ACT test scores be required for application/consideration for the Karsh STEM Scholars Program’s 5th cohort.*

The City Council believes it is important to encourage residents and businesses to be involved in City affairs and to take pride in Bowie. One of the ways Bowie does this is through recognition programs and contests that recognize and sometimes reward individuals, organizations, schools and businesses for their actions in a particular area. Nomination Process:
Nominations may only come from the schools.
Students should contact the guidance office of their high school and let them know that they are residents of the City of Bowie and would like to be considered for nomination.
For a school to consider a student for nomination, students must:
be nominated by their high school principal and/or guidance counselor (Limit 10 nominees for Bowie High School, 2 nominees for all other schools). Home-schooled students should contact the City directly for additional information.
be a high school senior, graduating in 2026
live within the incorporated City limits of Bowie
have a financial need
have a 3.0 GPA or higher
have applied to and been accepted at a post-secondary school (community college/ 4-year university, trade school, etc.)

Class Year Eligibility
In order to be eligible to apply to the National College Match in the fall of 2022, applicants must graduate from high school during or before the summer of 2023 and plan to enroll as a first-year student in college in the fall of 2023.
Citizenship Eligibility
Any high school senior, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the U.S. is eligible for the National College Match. Additionally, U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents living abroad are eligible. International students living outside the U.S. are not eligible.
Students attending high school in the U.S. as undocumented or international students are eligible to apply, but should review the Additional Citizenship Requirements to see which QuestBridge college partners will consider them for the Match Scholarship.
The City of Bowie provides Excellence in Education scholarships yearly to qualified graduating high school seniors. Over the years, over $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students.
Nomination Process
Nominations may only come from the schools. ERHS can only nominate TWO ERHS students for the Excellence in Education Scholarship and nominate ONE ERHS student for the Bowie Arts Scholarship. If you are interested in being nominated for either scholarship, please write a 500-word essay explaining why you feel that you deserve to be nominated for this scholarship. Link will be available on FEBRUARY 1ST.
This scholarship is intended to recognize the most outstanding Bowie students.
Eligibility
For a school to consider a student for nomination, students must:
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0;
Live in the City of Bowie; and
Have been accepted at an accredited college or university.
Maryland's New Community College Promise Program pays for tuition to eligible students. The Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship is a last dollar award, available to students who plan to enroll in credit-bearing coursework leading to a vocational certificate, certificate, or an associate degree; or in a sequence of credit or non-credit courses that leads to licensure or certification; or in a registered apprenticeship program at a Maryland community college for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Who May Apply?
An applicant that graduated from a Maryland high school or GED recipient who is planning to enroll, or is currently enrolled, at a Maryland community college as a candidate in:
a credit-bearing vocational certificate;
a credit-bearing certificate;
an associate degree program;
a sequence of credit or non-credit courses that leads to licensure or certification; or
a registered apprenticeship program.
Applicants must be eligible for in-state tuition, as determined by the community college in accordance with Title 15 of the Education Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland;
High school applicants must have earned an unweighted cumulative GPA of at least a 2.3 or its equivalent:
at the end of the first semester of their senior year in high school; or
at the end of their senior year in high school.
Applicants currently or previously enrolled at a community college must have earned either:
a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5 from the community college; or
a high school unweighted cumulative GPA of at least a 2.3 or its equivalent at the end of the first semester or end of their senior year in high school.
(Applicants should submit an official or unofficial high school OR community college transcript)
Applicants whose annual adjusted gross income was not more than:
$100,000 if the applicant is single or resides in a single-parent household; or
$150,000 if the applicant is married or resides in a two-parent household for the 2018 tax year as defined by MHEC;
Applicants who have not earned a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree; and
Applicants who have not been awarded other educational grants or scholarships that cover the applicants’ full cost of attendance at community colleges.
6 SCHOLARSHIPS THAT COULD SAVE YOU THOUSANDS
Deadline (2021): Sept. 15
The Gates Millennium Scholars program covers unmet financial need for “African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American and/or Hispanic American students”. You need to have a GPA of at least 3.3, along with a commitment to service and leadership.
To win the Gates Millennium Scholarship, your school needs to nominate you. You also need to answer several essay questions. If you think you could qualify, speak to a teacher, counselor or your principal about next steps.
Deadline (2021): Nov. 10
The Regeneron Science Talent Search is a national contest for aspiring scientists and mathematicians. Before winning one of these scholarships, which range from $2,000 to $250,000, you must participate in a long-term research project.
Projects could be in computer science, engineering or biochemistry, among other fields.
Deadline (2021): Oct. 30
This merit-based scholarship goes to high-achieving students with financial need.
To apply, you can submit the Common Application and designate the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation as one of your “schools.” The scholarship committee will look at your grades, test scores, extracurriculars, essays and recommendation letters. Winners get up to $40,000 each year for tuition, books, room, board and other education fees.
Deadline (2021): March 31
Microsoft offers the Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) scholarship awards to Black and African American students who plan to study technology. This scholarship is open to high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.3 and demonstrated financial need.
Winners of Microsoft’s BAM scholarships can receive up to $175,000 toward their college education.
Deadline (2021): Dec. 1
This full-tuition scholarship goes to aspiring STEM students who are interested in a career in national defense. Winners are expected to do a summer internship and work for a period as a Department of Defense civilian.
The scholarship comes in the form of a cash stipend of $25,000 to $38,000 per year, depending on what degree you’re pursuing, and includes health insurance.
Deadline (2021): Jan. 31
The United States Department of Scholarship offers this full-tuition scholarship to students planning to attend one of the 1890 historically black land-grant universities, like Alabama A&M University or Tennessee State University.
Winners have a record of leadership, plus they plan to study food, agriculture, natural resource science or a related discipline. USDA scholars get summer jobs and potential employment with the USDA after graduation.
