Google Drawings is a free graphics software that students can access on Chromebooks to create graphics and text. Google Drawings is an excellent software for students to learn graphic design due to its simple interface, while still featuring a number of tools and options for creating. Using this program, students can design custom graphics using pre-made shapes or the Line tool, add text, import images created in a different program or the web, and make adjustments to photographs.
Google Drawings can export files as .pdf, .jpg, .png, and .svg to be uploaded in different software, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Images created in Google Drawings can be directly sent to the Epilog Laser Engraver as raster files, and lines created in Google Drawings can be read as vectors. For the laser engraver to recognize lines created in Google Drawings as a vector, the line weight must be set at 1 pt.
