The Einscan 2X 3D Scanner will allow you to scan geometric or organic objects to produce 3D models. This process can be used to reverse engineer parts, create models of organic forms (which can be difficult to model), and create accurate scale models of larger objects. After the scanning process, the models can be saved as .obj or .stl files which can be further modified in CAD software. The scanner has difficulty with shiny surfaces and intricate texture (like hair); spraying an object with dry shampoo can help with the scan in these circumstances.
The Einscan Pro 2X 3D Scanner uses the Shining 3D software during the scanning process. This scanner can only be used on the computer in the High School Innovation Center located next to the Epilog Laser Engraver. After the scan has been produced, the model can be opened with Autodesk Inventor and Tinkercad for further modification. If the model needs no modification, it can be directly opened in the Dremel or Ultimaker Cura slicer software to be prepared for 3D printing.
