Activity Instructions

The Music Technology and Music Performance Team at The Factory Petroc, Brannams campus in Barnstaple have created an exciting activity using Bandlab which is an online platform where musicians can record and producers can remix and much more.

We have created five different, four bar sequences that we would love you to play around with and show us your skills. You can remix, record new parts and add effects, just like you would if you were using a digital audio workstation like garage band. It’s a really great tool that is super easy to use and works on any device.

In BandLab you can choose from these styles - Jazz, Ballad, Rock, Dance, Funk. Please have a go and remember to click save when you are done.

Instructions for accessing BandLab

Note - you must use the BandLab app or an up to date Chrome/Edge Browser.

1. Click on the link to join the classroom shown below, sign-up to BandLab and click continue

2. Click on Taster Day Assignments and then choose a jam assignment

3. Click Start Assignment and then click Teacher Assignment

4. The Jam Track will open in Mix Editor

5. When it loads click play button to listen to backing track

6. Click add track (top left) and then you can add loops (bottom right), add a midi instrument track, add audio or record audio.

7. Have FUN!

8. When you finish click save
