Meet your lecturers

We have two members of staff in Classical Civilisation:

Clare Collins:

“Classics introduces us to some of the foundational literary texts of the Western world. I love to analyse the years of history, myth and legend which build the 24 Books of the Iliad and the Odyssey. To delve into these texts is to encounter something both remote and familiar, and the stories are impossible to forget. From first encountering them during my own A-levels, I have continued to be enthralled by Greek and Roman epic and enjoy the exciting discussions and debates enabled by the fantastic A-Level syllabus ‘The World of the Hero’.

I studied my A Levels at Petroc before completing a BA and MA at the University of Exeter. I have worked at Petroc since 2015 and joined the department in 2018. I teach both English Literature and Classical Civilisation.”
