Turn on power strip on the back of the soundboard (red light bulb should go on).
Turn on radio receiver under the soundboard (blue LED backlight should go on).
Check mics through Tricaster (make sure mics are un-muted).
Adjust sound using audio mixer tab next to graphics 1 and 2 on the Tricaster.
When anchors are ready:
> Placement of microphones: clip to collar of shirt, near their mouth.
If one speaker is louder, move mic slightly away from anchor’s mouth.
If there are guest hosts and one does not have a collar, move mic away from host with collar so the sound is even between the two speakers.
Adjust sound as they practice. Some anchors are louder/quieter than others:
Use Gain to make larger adjustments in sound.
Use Trim for smaller adjustments.
During show, pay attention to sound! If you mute a mic, be sure to unmute it again.
After show:
> Turn off soundboard power strip.
> Make sure anchors put away mics -- they should not be left on the anchor table.
Important sound tech info:
This is an extremely important job. You must get set up and check the mics early so you have time to make adjustments if needed.
The soundboard buttons are just like a light switch. Up = On, down = Off.
Use the Mute buttons to silence a microphone.
> A mute button in the up position will allow the microphone signal to Tricaster.
> A mute button in the down position will stop the audio signal to the Tricaster.
Solo buttons should be left off, or in the down position. (Solo buttons allow the sound technician to listen to a muted signal through the soundboard w/o allowing the signal to reach the Tricaster.)
