The Basics

What is a Chromebook?

A Chromebook is a laptop computer that is designed to operate almost entirely on the internet, storing data in the cloud and running most programs through the Chrome Web Browser. Very little information is stored on the computer itself. Chromebooks run on the Google Chrome operating system.

Who is provided with a Chromebook?

Individual Chromebooks are assigned to students in grades 1-12. Kindergarten classrooms have shared Chromebooks for use in stations and small groups.

For grades K-8, Chromebooks are used in school only and are stored in classroom carts overnight. High School students check out a Chromebook for the year and are able to take them home as needed. Students are not able to check out a Chromebook if they have unpaid fees.

NOTE: Due to hybrid and remote learning options and the unpredictable nature of the fall semester of 2020-2021, additional devices are currently going home with our younger students as well.

Which types of Chromebooks do we have?

Our current student Chromebook models are the HP 11A G6 EE, Dell 11 p22t, Lenovo 100e, and ASUS C202SA. Kindergarten centers also have Lenovo N22 Touch devices.
