The Business Program at PHS will prepare students to work in the business sector from accounting and financing to marketing and administration. Students will learn from real life projects, service learning opportunities and in-class simulations. Students can join the Business Professionals of America as well as working with younger students in devising business plans for their school.

Computer Applications for Professionals describes the components and peripherals of a computer/PC and how they function and communicate as a system. Principle topics covered are the Windows operating system, Internet applications, the Windows networking environment and a variety of software application packages used to solve scientific, business, and engineering technology problems.

Students will obtain knowledge and skills in fundamental business activities. They will acquire knowledge of business processes, economics and business relationships. Students will use technology to synthesize and share business information. Employability skills, leadership, and communications and personal financial literacy will be addressed.
Note: A service learning project is a required part of the course.

This is the first course specific to corporate finance. It introduces students to the specializations offered in the career field. Knowledge management and information technology will be emphasized. Employability skills, leadership and communications will be incorporated in classroom activities.

Students will track, record, summarize, and report a business’s financial transactions. They will develop financial documents, project future income and expenses, and evaluate the accuracy of a business’s financial information.
