The Color Run is run by the HSA. It is a fun activity where you run through things and basically you get sprayed with a bunch of color powder with your friends. Kindergarteners through 5th graders participate. You will see moms and dads, maybe even yours! Some kids get so colorful that they are the brightest one. Everyone gets colorful sun glasses. Without the HSA this would not be possible so if you see them say THANK YOU!

The Blue and Gold Assembly is a fun thing for the whole school. In the beginning they call up birthdays for this month. When a kid's parents come, you know you know you're getting called up, you can get called up for kindness awards or academic awards even more then that. You can get called up if your parent email Mr. Reiner for something you have accomplished for outside of school they are not only for sports they can be for anything. Lastly at the end we all sing the SJG song then as we are walking out Mr.Reiner plays a song. Sometimes it is his favorite song, Baby Shark.

The SJG talent show has taken place on March 25th, 2026. It is when students of all grades get to put on an act to show off their talent. You can do dances, sing songs, magic tricks, art, acts from movies, whatever you want! Every act has a special meaning to it, and it’s always good. The school always puts their best work into the talent show, and anyone can join! We would like to give a special thanks to everyone who participated. It shows what SJG has with it’s talent. Also, another special thanks to our 5th grade emcee’s which were Isabella, Nayan, and Julia for introducing every act.

3rd-5th grades are having an iReady tournament. You get points for every lesson you pass. Reading is two points and math is one point. The teachers add up the total points of the class. In the semi-finals it was Mrs. Rentas v.s Mrs. Struble and Mrs. Valero vs Mrs. Rodeiro. After the classes faced off it was Mrs. Valero vs Mrs. Struble's class. The class that won the extra recess is Mrs. Struble's class!

First grade is so exciting! They are learning so much. One of the most important things that they just finished was making coins for America’s 250th anniversary. To do that they learned about America's symbols and that is what they put on the coins. Also they just finished their spring writing. This is where they write about their favorite things in spring. But in math they are adding. They are adding two digit numbers by two digit numbers. Also in fundations they are doing voul teams.
During Read Across America we celebrate Dr.Seuss’s birthday. In honor of Dr.Seuss's birthday we have a spirit week. On Monday we wear red white and blue, on Tuesday we get on our pajamas and cuddle up and read. Everyday from March 2-6 we do something special to honor Dr.Seuss. We also have a Read-A-Thon. Whichever class reads the most, gets an ice cream party. Whichever class raises the most money that class gets a pizza party.

Mrs. Griffith is teaching mindfulness! In mindfulness Mrs. Griffith teaches the students different strategies to learn mindfulness and help emotions and calming breathing strategies. Mindfulness is like a workout for your mind muscles. You sit still and focus on one thing, like your breath, to make your focus stronger.

Michelle Knudson was very welcomed to SJG to share information about her writing career. Every grade came to the library to meet Michelle Knudson and learn about her own writing experiences. She showed us her books and how she drafts them. Also how she publishes them. Some of her books include the “Library Lion”, “Luigi the Spider who wanted to be a kitten,” “Wild magic,” and the “Evil Librarian.” Some students even had the chance to have lunch with Michelle Knudson, these students got to eat lunch with the author.

Welcome Mrs.Nappa!!! Mrs.Nappa is the new music teacher and has only been teaching since September 2025. This is her second year teaching MUSIC! Both her children are music teachers. At first she wasn't a music teacher, she had so much fun talking to her children about it, that it made her go back to college and learn to be a music teacher. When she is teaching she does a mindful moment to calm us down or to just get our minds going. She has the fifth grade write definitions on a name tag and then she is going to give us a little quiz at the end of the year. Mrs. Nappa loves animals. She has 4 cats, Taffy, Fawkes, Feebus, and Ember. She loves to travel and especially going to Disney world.

Mrs. Finnen's Sad Goodbye
Mrs.Finnen has been teaching music and spreading joy in our school for about 33 years. Throughout her time here she has put on concerts, taught recorder, and ukulele for the fifth graders. She taught us notes, high to low. Now, she is sadly retiring. Her last day was 1/30/26 and she enjoyed her final blue gold assembly and her last time to sing the SJG song with the school. Everyone will miss her from Kindergarten all the way to the 5th grade classes.
For her final assembly the school surprised her by singing a special song.

On Tuesday, November 11th, at Stephen J Gerace the third grade class presented a Veterans Day concert lead by our wonderful music teacher Mrs. Finnen. The third grade class wanted to honor them for what they do for our country.
The Third grade did a great job singing. Imagine having to memorize six songs! Wow! That must be hard.
Special thanks to Mrs Griffith and Mrs Stringer the SJG service Club for giving out all the gifts and the food. Thank you to all veterans that came and served our country. Also To the Sofia, and Hazel For drawing a great picture that was on the pamphlet.

This Halloween we had our annual Halloween Parade! This was our Kindergarteners first of many and fifth graders last one. All of the students had fun participating and parading around the parents. We hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween and the kids got lots of candy and had a blast! The fifth graders made their last SJG Halloween the best. The Fifth Grade got bagels and did a mummy wrap. They also watched “Wonder” because they finished the book.
