Fourth grade is doing something special for the 250th Anniversary of America. They have already spelled 250 on a poster with stamps, and decorated them with symbols of America. On the side of that poster, there is a sentence saying, " Stamped In Freedom." This symbolizes how freedom in America is special. Also, as every grade goes to the Senior Tea, fourth grade is making stamps for the seniors, and also putting American symbols. These acts are representing the freedom and happiness of America.

The SJG fourth grade classrooms are currently learning about different things in all of their subjects. In reading the fourth grade is looking at nonfiction texts and finding out the text structure. In rriting they wrote about the Lenape way of life and are writing an essay about an Olympic sport. They are starting to work with fractions and are going to use manipulatives and different models. In Science they are working on energy. They made chain reaction machines out of average day to day materials. For their Social Studies they are learning about European explorers that were the first people to come to America.

The students in fourth grade are learning and doing a lot. To start, in science they are doing a volcano project. This is a new project followed by a new day called Volcano Day. The fourth grade students each get volcanoes from around the world. They had to research, write a report, make a poster, build the volcano out of clay, and paint it. Next, for ELA fourth grade is writing personal narratives, finding the theme, character traits, summarizing, and making inferences. Also, in social studies they are learning about the 5 US regions. Then they will learn about the 4 NJ regions. The students will then learn about the landforms and the natural resources from those regions. Next, in math they are learning about multiplication as a comparison, and soon will learn about multiples and factors. After they learn that they will have to use these skills to solve real life problems. The fourth graders have been working so hard on all of these things, and will still be working hard on the new things.
