A creative resource to support better conversations about child sexual abuse
"This is genuinely prevention work; this coming from survivors is so much more powerful than anything else you will ever see in this space."

#StartWell, #LiveWell #AgeWell
At Viv Gordon Company, our work is a campaign to increase visibility, voice and community with adult survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
Our work seeks to remove barriers to participation for CSA survivors and drive narrative change moving away from ideas of victimhood, guilt, shame, isolation and cultural silencing towards celebrating survival, joining together and laying claim to cultural space to make noise about our experiences, rights and concerns. We do this through creative activities: performances, installations, poetry, writing, workshops, campaigns, consultancy and more.
Artistic Director, Viv Gordon has a strong track record as a theatre maker, arts/mental health campaigner & survivor-activist grounded in her lived experience of Child Sexual Abuse.
Our project, An ABC of CSA, is a creative resource to support better conversations about child sexual abuse. It comes in the shape of a beautiful set of alphabet cards, co-created with over 40 CSA survivors and illustrated by Imogen Harvey-Lewis.
CSA survivors come from all backgrounds and all parts of society, but our experiences are hidden and taboo. Society doesn’t talk enough about CSA, and survivors often lack the words to speak up about their abuse.

"Just knowing someone else had thought this, had designed and drawn a card to express it, meant it wasn't just the young survivor alone with these thoughts, and just one therapist alongside her, but a whole community out there, survivors of CSA/E, with shared experiences of sexual violence and the consequences. Thank you for this powerful resource.” - Miriam, Rape Crisis Centre Therapist

Wessex Archaeology work with partners across primary care, community, VCSE, Justice System, Schools, Museums, Libraries, Arts and Health.
One example is the Lost and Found project
How did the project work?
The key to the Lost & Found project was its simplicity. At the heart of it, the idea was to create an accessible space where individuals felt safe to express themselves and participate in an activity in a way that held meaning for them.
Due to the restrictions in place, individuals joined each session from the comfort of their own homes. Artefacts from our archives acted as a vehicle for sessions, aiding discussion and providing opportunities for participants to share their own stories. Alongside this, there was homework for participants which brought in elements of creativity.

Orchestras Live is developing a Social Return On Investment model for Creative Health interventions.
#StartWell #LiveWell #AgeWell #Music #National #Measurement
cimeon@orchestraslive.org.uk
Orchestras Live has been testing a Social Return On Investment model for creative activities. So far we have looked predominantly at wellbeing value and other broader social impacts, but are developing our expertise and approach to incorporate other direct health benefits/savings and the wider social determinants of health. The model aligns outcomes with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The approach generates an estimate of the £ social return (or saving) for every £ invested. We are looking for pathfinders to help us test and develop the approach. The YouTube video at the link provided says a little bit more about our work to date. Get in touch and get involved! https://www.orchestraslive.org.uk/news/social-value-engine
