A message to our students and parents:
A thoughtful and well-planned course selection is an important step toward a successful school year. This Program of Studies Site has been created to guide you through that process. You will find academic objectives, graduation requirements, and detailed course descriptions to help you make informed decisions.
Students will enter their course requests online through PowerSchool during the designated scheduling window. After requests are submitted, both students and parents will have the opportunity to review and verify the selections.
Please note that while all courses listed in the Program of Studies are available to students, each course must have sufficient enrollment in order to run. Courses with low enrollment may be canceled. Additionally, if an elective course reaches maximum capacity, priority will be given to upperclassmen, and underclassmen may need to choose alternate options.
We understand that you may have questions about course selection. Please be prepared to discuss any concerns with your counselor during your scheduled meeting.
21st Century Philosophy - Penn-Trafford High School recognizes the importance of preparing students with the skills and knowledge needed for success beyond graduation, no matter their individual goals. Achieving this success requires students to communicate effectively, collaborate, think critically, and approach challenges with creativity.
Teachers across all disciplines strive to strengthen these four essential components, along with other 21st-century skills, by making learning meaningful and relevant to each student. As we continue to move beyond a traditional school model, Penn-Trafford High School is committed to expanding opportunities for students to explore their interests, regardless of pathway or ability. Instruction will be delivered through a variety of methods, including increased technology integration, online formats, flexible scheduling, and inquiry- and project-based learning.
If approved, seniors who meet established criteria may further customize their educational experience by leaving campus early for internships, work release, or college-level coursework.
